Welcome back to a new appointment with Dispotech news, your disposable excellence.

Today we are going to address a serious subject, which unfortunately we are used to hear often about during the winter: we are talking about injuries, even serious ones, which often occur while practising winter sports. The number of accidents occurring on ski slopes, for instance, is very high; many of them happen because of mistakes and forgetfulness on the part of skiers, who could face serious consequences - even losing their lives, in the most dramatic cases.

There is no doubt that winter sports, while fun and much loved by an increasingly wide range of people, are also dangerous and must be practised by scrupulously following safety rules that can literally save lives. Thanks to the support of an article published on news-medical.net, we will take a look at what can happen during the practice of a winter sport and give some suggestions on how to avoid injuries. Enjoy reading!

Snow accidents caused by skiing, snowboarding, sledding, etc. are dramatically increasing. It is advisable to behave cautiously on the slopes, both for one’s own sake and for others.

Head injuries can be fatal, which is why wearing helmets and the right equipment for spending a day on the slopes is a must. Even a fall or an unfortunate blow to the head, when cushioned by the right equipment, can save lives: never underestimate this!

Alongside the more canonical winter sports, there are also injuries which can occur on hockey or skating rinks: a fall on ice can really hurt and be very serious. Besides the head, there could also be limbs and back fractures - accidents requiring painful and lengthy convalescence, as well as an extensive rehabilitation phase.

So, what advice should be followed to avoid getting hurt while practising winter sports?

  • Always wear a protective helmet and, if you can, something to protect your face and teeth. Everything must be certified in compliance with the law and the right size;
  • choose a sporty/technical type of clothing suitable for the discipline you are practising, comfortable and of the right size;
  • always check out the weather conditions if you’re planning to practice outdoor sports;
  • don’t take chances if you are unwell, sick or have been drinking;
  • follow carefully the signs and prohibitions found on the slopes;
  • always maintain an appropriate behaviour and not detrimental to your own safety and that of others.

By following these few simple but fundamental rules we are sure that you will be able to avoid annoying injuries while having fun with winter sports. What do you think about this article? Have your say, contact Dispotech.
